We study plant viruses and the intricate interactions with their host plants and insect vectors that shape viral evolution, infection, and transmission. By integrating molecular virology, genomics, functional biology, and computational approaches, we investigate how viruses adapt, what makes infections successful, and why seemingly small genetic changes can have meaningful biological consequences. Viruses may be small, but the biological questions they raise are anything but. Our curiosity begins with understanding the mechanisms behind these complex interactions, but it doesn't stop there. We aim to use these insights to anticipate viral adaptation, uncover new ways to disrupt disease transmission, and contribute to more sustainable crop protection. Viruses have been evolving for a very long time. We are simply trying to keep up, and occasionally stay one step ahead.
